Important Update on UAE Visa & Residency Regulations

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP) has announced a series of new visit visas and amendments to entry permits and residency regulations in the UAE. These changes are designed to strengthen the UAE’s openness to global talent, enhance tourism, and provide more flexible residency solutions.
Newly Introduced Visit Visa Categories
Specialists in Artificial Intelligence (AI):
- Single or multiple entry permits.
- Requires an official letter from a sponsoring or hosting entity specialised in technology.
Entertainment Visa:
- Issued for foreigners visiting the UAE temporarily for entertainment activities.
Events Visa:
- Granted for participation in festivals, exhibitions, conferences, seminars, cultural, educational, sports, or religious events.
- Requires a letter from the hosting entity with event details.
Tourism Visa (Cruise/Leisure):
- Multiple-entry permit through cruise ships and luxury yachts.
- Requires sponsorship from a licensed tourism operator.

Humanitarian Residence Permit
- Valid for 1 year (renewable)
- Can be granted to individuals from countries facing wars, disasters, or unrest
- May also cover cases where UAE residents bring in relatives under humanitarian circumstances
- Certain requirements such as financial solvency or kinship can be waived in special cases
Residency for Widows & Divorcees
- Residency can be issued for 1 year, renewable
- Conditions vary depending on whether the husband was Emirati or foreign
- Custody of children is a key factor
- Financial solvency and adequate housing requirements must be met
Sponsorship of Relatives & Friends
- Immediate family: Minimum salary of AED 4,000/month
- Second/third-degree relatives: AED 8,000/month
- Friends: AED 15,000/month
Other Key Amendments
- Business Exploration Visa: Applicants must show financial solvency or proof of related activity outside the UAE
- Truck Drivers’ Visa: Available as single or multiple entry, with sponsorship from freight companies; health insurance and financial guarantees required
