Golden Visa holders can directly contact MOFA through a dedicated hotline: +971 2493 1133 for immediate assistance in emergencies. - Repatriation & Burial Assistance:
In the unfortunate event of a Golden Visa holder’s death abroad, MOFA will coordinate repatriation or burial procedures, ensuring all documentation and processes are handled smoothly for their families. - Lost or Damaged Passport Help:
If a passport is lost or damaged while abroad, MOFA can issue an electronic Return Document to facilitate quick return to the UAE.
24/7 Global Availability:
These services are available around the clock and apply to all Golden Visa holders traveling or residing temporarily overseas.

Dubai Launches Mainland Operating Permit for Free Zone Companies

Dubai has introduced a new Free Zone Mainland Operating Permit, allowing free zone companies to legally operate in Dubai’s mainland through a simplified permit system – a major step towards business flexibility and cross-jurisdictional growth.
According to the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), the initiative aims to make it easier for free zone companies to engage in domestic trade, local contracts, and government tenders, offering a cost-effective and transparent route for business expansion.
What’s Covered Under the New Permit
In its initial phase, the permit applies to non-regulated business activities, including:
- Technology & IT services
- Consultancy & design
- Professional services
- General trading
Regulated sectors will be added in the next phases.
Permit Duration & Cost
- Validity: 6 months
- Fee: AED 5,000 (renewable every six months for the same fee)
Free zone companies using the permit will be subject to 9% corporate tax on mainland-related revenues and must maintain separate financial records as per Federal Tax Authority (FTA) rules – ensuring transparency and compliance.
Businesses can also use their existing free zone staff for mainland operations without hiring new employees.
Economic Impact
DET projects that the initiative will boost cross-jurisdictional business by 15-20% within the first year, benefiting over 10,000 active free zone firms.

Important Update on UAE Visa & Residency Regulations
The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP) has announced a series of new visit visas and amendments to entry permits and residency regulations in the UAE. These changes are designed to strengthen the UAE’s openness to global talent, enhance tourism, and provide more flexible residency solutions.
Newly Introduced Visit Visa Categories
Specialists in Artificial Intelligence (AI):
- Single or multiple entry permits.
- Requires an official letter from a sponsoring or hosting entity specialised in technology.
Entertainment Visa:
- Issued for foreigners visiting the UAE temporarily for entertainment activities.
Events Visa:
- Granted for participation in festivals, exhibitions, conferences, seminars, cultural, educational, sports, or religious events.
- Requires a letter from the hosting entity with event details.
Tourism Visa (Cruise/Leisure):
- Multiple-entry permit through cruise ships and luxury yachts.
- Requires sponsorship from a licensed tourism operator.
Humanitarian Residence Permit
- Valid for 1 year (renewable)
- Can be granted to individuals from countries facing wars, disasters, or unrest
- May also cover cases where UAE residents bring in relatives under humanitarian circumstances
- Certain requirements such as financial solvency or kinship can be waived in special cases
Residency for Widows & Divorcees
- Residency can be issued for 1 year, renewable
- Conditions vary depending on whether the husband was Emirati or foreign
- Custody of children is a key factor
- Financial solvency and adequate housing requirements must be met
Sponsorship of Relatives & Friends
- Immediate family: Minimum salary of AED 4,000/month
- Second/third-degree relatives: AED 8,000/month
- Friends: AED 15,000/month
Other Key Amendments
- Business Exploration Visa: Applicants must show financial solvency or proof of related activity outside the UAE
- Truck Drivers’ Visa: Available as single or multiple entry, with sponsorship from freight companies; health insurance and financial guarantees required
